About the Directors
Alexander Nilsen is a Norwegian film and television producer and cinematographer based in Sydney, Australia. As Executive Producer at Shakespeare Media, Alexander oversees all aspects of productions from concept creation, to budgeting, scripting and pulling together the right creatives to suit the projects he and his team are commissioned.
Alexander’s portfolio spans many industry sectors, including: technology, government, education, real-estate, retail, healthcare and entertainment. His clients include Mambo, ThyssenKrupp, Thompson Reuters, LifeProof, OtterBox, along with several long-term contracts for Australian Government departments.
Alexander’s career began in 2005, after receiving an internship with New Tang Dynasty Television in New York, a company under the Epoch Media Group. He began as a camera operator and video editor before moving into producing and studio management on the stations flagship 30-minute news show, NTD World News, aired daily.
In 2010, Alexander transitioned into a full-time producing role for Journey West Media, a Manhattan-based production agency, before moving to Shakespeare Media in 2011.
Alexander is proficient across a wide range of disciplines, including: storytelling, directing, cinematography, video editing, sound design and film distribution. He is favoured among his client base, for his sincere and humble character and strong work ethic.
In his spare time, Alexander involves himself in a range of humanitarian film projects aimed at promoting human rights and dignity. His interests lie in history, music and the field of visual arts, including: cinematography, photography, painting, design and architecture.
Gina Shakespeare is a New Zealand film and television producer and director based in Sydney, Australia. As a founding director of Shakespeare Media in 2011, Gina works closely with executives, marketing personnel and entrepreneurs to develop professional and engaging video content.
She has created, produced and directed TV commercials and corporate content for a wide range of clients, including: Rolls Royce, Philips, Sophos and Jones Lang Lasalle.
Gina’s media career began at the world’s largest, independent Chinese TV network, New Tang Dynasty Television in New York. She began as a journalist, later filling positions in anchoring, program producing and news directing.
During her 8 years with the network, she took up posts in London, Sydney and Melbourne, and together with long-term creative partner and cinematographer, Alexander Nilsen, earned three awards from NTD Television for excellence in writing, cinematography and video editing.
As a passionate visual artist Gina is proficient across a range of disciplines, including: producing, writing, directing, cinematography, video editing, photography and design. She is appreciated among her client base, for her calm presence on set, ability to draw convincing talent performance from amateur actors and for her attention to detail through-out the production process.
In addition to her extensive commercial television experience, Gina also believes creating art is an act of social responsibility that can improve the welfare of others. In her spare time, she is dedicated to producing web content and short films in area of human rights.
Gina’s interests lie in both Eastern and Western fine art, including painting, architecture, film, cinematography, photography and design across multiple disciplines. She is also interested in European culture, moral philosophy, anthropology, philanthropy and meditation.
